"Being solitary is being alone well; being alone luxuriously immersed in doing things of your own choice, aware of the fullness of your own presence rather than the absence of others, because solitude is an achievement." - Alice Koller

Ghandi's Wisdom

"There is more to life than merely increasing its speed." - Ghandi

We arrived at the Solitude House on St. George Island a few days early to prepare for our Second Annual Solitude by the Sea Retreat. While there is a lot to do to prepare for retreat, we have found ourselves slowing down, taking deep breaths, lingering after meal time, enjoying afternoon tea and doing yoga on the porch. While technically we are "working" (finalizing agendas, setting up the retreat center, preparing activities) we are adjusting our pace to be ready to hold the space for our participants when they arrive.

If you take time to intentionally slow down in the next hour, day or week, what do you notice? What can you savor? What will you celebrate? Let us know by posting your comments below. We'd love to hear from you.

And, if you need a little prompting, be sure to sign up above for our free 52 Solitude Inspirations!

And now, we're off to the beach...!
